Baby otter was seen sobbing on a doorstep after the severe weather after being separated from his mother

It’s my pleasure to introduce you to Buddy, the otter cub. After becoming separated from his mother due to the bad weather that was occurring in Dumfries and Galloway in Scotland, the young otter was discovered sobbing on the doorstep of a house.

“This is a very hazardous time for young otters as they can easily be washed out of their holts by high rivers and at this age they are not strong swimmers,” explains the Scottish SPCA, who is caring for Buddy. The 10-week-old cub was taken to the Scottish SPCA’s National Wildlife Rescue Centre in Fishcross where he is getting fed milk and hand fed a diet of fish. Buddy won’t be all alone for long either. He will be introduced to three other orphaned otter cubs, Ebb, Tide and Wave.

The humane society says, “They will stay with us for around a year until they are old enough to fend for themselves back in the wild.” I’m so glad someone heard Buddy’s cries for help. The little guy’s story is a reminder to everyone that if you find an orphaned or hurt wild animal, please call your local SPCA or wildlife rehabilitation centre.
