On the back of the developing calf’s neck was a gaping maggot-infested wound. We knew they needed to be together, but there was no place in our ambulance on the day we rescued him for both of them. We rushed him to the hospital for emergency care, but he was alone.
The following day, after removing the maggots and treating the wound completely, our ambulance showed up with a great, lovely surprise for this little angel: his mother.
They discovered each other in a flash, and the mending procedure for this calf could then proceed at full speed! This horrendous wound was able to heal within a few of weeks due to daily wound cleansing and replacement of dressings.
